I Had to Let Go

by | September 26, 2022

As I was praying and asking God to answer a specific request that was on my heart this week, I found myself explaining to God why it would be so beneficial to everyone if He could just make it come together the way it was in my mind. I almost found myself a little frustrated that I was bringing the same exact request to Him again and again

Have you found yourself in the same shoes? You’re bringing burdens to Him in prayer, but you’re not letting go of them. You have a certain way you want God to answer your prayer. You have your own specific timing . . . and honestly sometimes you think you have even made it “easy” for God in coming up with this perfect plan. (Yeah . . . that was me about 24 hours ago.)

Then I read this verse in Isaiah that says: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts” (Isaiah 55:8-9).

It is at that moment I said, “God, You already know my heart. You know my deepest desires, and I know my mind cannot begin to fathom how much better Your thoughts and Your ways are than my own. I surrender my ‘plan’ and humbly ask that Your will be done. Your way is always best.”

It is almost like I let go of the grip I had on it and just left it there on the altar of prayer. It takes trust and faith to “let go” and just let God do His miraculous work . . . it may not be painless and it may not be easy, but I promise the end result is always better.

Be encouraged.
