The Deliverer We Need

by | July 29, 2025

We have been doing a Bible study as a family on the attributes of God. It’s been eye-opening to gain a deeper understanding of who God is and what He does for us.

This week we are learning about God, our DELIVERER. At first glance, this may not seem as super relevant to us today as maybe it was for the Israelites as they warded off their enemies, but a second look may surprise you.

Psalm 144:2 says that God is ” My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.” We may not have physical enemies all around us, but we sure do have enemies from within. What about the voice of fear, that twinge of worry, or the struggle of discontentment? If I am not careful, I will accept these “little foes” as usual and not be as zealous to root them out as I would a physical threat.

We need God’s deliverance from these enemies daily. I love how the Psalmist David says, “HE in whom I will trust.” God was where his faith, confidence, and hope were. We need this same resolve for this week. We need God’s truth to keep us free (See John 8:31-32).

What do you need delivered from? We have the great DELIVERER in Jesus Christ, where no foe is too great to conquer. He ultimately delivered us from sin and death, and continues to deliver.

Be Encouraged.
