about our family
Get to know us
We’re a small family that loves making big memories. We live in a small, country cottage nestled in the hills of Tennessee.
Our faith, our families, and our friends are the most important treasures that we have. We love sharing our experiences, our adventures, our challenges, and our happy times with others. It is our prayer that this site will encourage and inspire you in this wonderful journey of life.
Chad Paine
Chad grew up in a large family in northern Indiana. At an early age he grew to love working on the farm, raising goats and chickens, and driving the tractor. He is probably the most diligent person you will ever meet, and he credits his dad for his strong work ethic. He spent many years working with youth and his humble and gentle spirit impacted countless lives. He graduated from a private College with an Associates in Youth Ministry. In 2013, he moved to Tennessee and married the love of his life, Erin Bates.
Over the years he has really enjoyed working with his hands, refinishing furniture, remodeling, and building projects. Chad started Paine Construction in 2017, and stays quite busy working full time, and making people’s dreams come to life. He is a proud father to 4 children, and every evening you can find him giving the kids wild piggy-back rides, breathtaking pushes on the swing , and telling the most exciting Bible stories. He is constantly investing into his family, and there is no job at home that he isn’t willing to do. He is a true example of a Christian and leads his family by serving, loving, and giving.
Erin Bates Paine
Erin finds fulfillment and joy from being a full time mother, homeschooling her two oldest, making dinners from scratch, and growing every flower she can find. She has a desire to minister to other women and encourage them to deepen their relationship with the Lord. You will often hear her saying, “Make your time with Jesus your priority each day, and make a choice to surround yourself with people and media that will challenge you spiritually. Life is too short to waste our time and eternity is too great.”
so much fun!

After almost three weeks in the hospital, I have never been so thankful to finally head home to our babies. We don’t have all the answers yet, and I still don’t have function in my right leg, but we are choosing to count every blessing—especially the gift of being together again. Your prayers have carried us through and mean the world to our family. ❤️

We have been completely overwhelmed by the love and support of family and friends during this difficult season. From watching the kids and taking them on adventures, to helping with baby Henry and lifting Erin up with encouragement—you have carried us in ways we can’t even put into words. We don’t know how to say thank you enough, but we are truly, deeply grateful. ❤️

A moment we never want to forget. 😭 Being away from our babies has been harder than we ever imagined. 💔 Our hearts ache to be together again.

Recovery is not fast or easy, but we are deeply thankful for every small step forward. 💕 It has completely broken my heart to watch my Erin walk through such pain, yet to see her lifting her voice in praise to the Lord in the midst of it has been nothing short of inspiring. Her kindness and gratefulness she demonstrates to those taking care of her is nothing short of Christ in her. She has been a light wherever she goes.
Yesterday, Erin was transferred to a new hospital where a team of doctors is working together to help her improve. The nurses have been so compassionate and have become like family to us.
We miss our babies more than words can say, and we are so grateful for each prayer, message, and act of kindness from those who have reached out during this time. Your love is carrying us. 🤍

I have so many mixed emotions as I share this.
Last night, Erin suffered a lengthy and severe seizure. Up to this point, Erins infection was getting better, but we found ourselves back in a place of heartache, uncertainty, and tears.
She is in the ICU, and the doctors are running scans and tests to determine the cause. Erin is extremely weak and spent hours only half conscious.
As her husband, it is one of the hardest things I’ve ever faced — to sit by her side and watch her struggle while being so helpless to ease her suffering. I love her more deeply than words can express, and I can’t even imagine life without my best friend. The hours have been long and heavy, and I know many hearts are aching to see her this way, along with mine. We hold on to faith that healing is coming, even in the midst of the unknown. Your prayers are felt and we are forever grateful.

We wanted to thank each and every one of you for all the prayers and support you have given on our behalf. It’s been a week since our miracle, Henry came into the world. He is doing well in the NICU and is our bundle of happiness. We had asked for prayer for recovery for Erin due to complications. Her labor was longer and more intense than previous births. She has been fighting through it and has been such a light and sweet testimony of grace to nurses, staff, and doctors alike. We are all moved by her kindness and gratefulness in the midst of pain.
Erin developed a severe UTI and kidney infection, which sent her into septic shock. She is currently still in the ICU as doctors continue to treat, diagnose, and search for answers. We would covet your prayers for this beautiful girl who is such a light in a dark world. We are holding onto God’s promises. -Chad
