He Calls Us Friends

by | January 30, 2023

I’ll be honest — I had no clue what to write as I sat down and looked at the blank page in front of me. Typically, I will ponder different ideas or lessons that God is teaching me through the past week and ask the Lord to help me consolidate them into text form. Then I will send it off to our patient, web/email manager (Zyrek) and he then transforms it into something graphically appealing and schedules the send-out time. I was pushing it for time this week (which happens more than I would like to admit); Zyrek has been a great blessing to us . . . which brings me to my thoughts for this week.

It’s been a challenging week for me in more ways than one. But something that has truly helped me has been friends — the kind of friends you can share your heart with and be vulnerable with (which never feels great at the moment).

Friends that drop what they were doing to help in time of need.

Friends that tell you the truth when you need to hear it.

Friends that are patient and kind to listen.

I have needed those friends this week, and I am most grateful for the One Who calls me His friend.

Jesus said in John 15:13–15:

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

The Lord knows the things in my heart in the most personal and real way — the good, the bad, and the ugly. Yet He loves me. He is patient, and He is always available.

I just want to say how grateful I am to Jesus and all my friends that have been there when I needed them most.

Reach out and thank a friend this week for their impact on your life!
