Need a Pick-Me-Up?

by | March 24, 2025

We have all heard people say they need a pick-me-up when running low on energy or need extra motivation to keep moving through the day. While the pick-me-up may differ physically from day to day, there is a spiritually essential pick-me-up.
Our Pastor was sharing about the great commission that Jesus gave to us in Mathew 28:

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…”  – Mathew 28:18-19

As followers of Christ, the call to go and be witnesses worldwide to the lost and disciple others is a task that we cannot do in and of ourselves. However, in this command, Jesus gave us a key to obeying it. We must operate in His power because He has ALL power. Unlike ours, His power is infinite. I get into trouble when I try to obey His commission in my power. I have realized that I don’t have what it takes to perform His will…even in the small things. Performing in my strength is like swapping out an electric car battery with a watch battery…the results will be disappointing.
The Lord gently pressed my heart with this thought yesterday. I need Him. I cannot operate in my strength, but He has all the power to accomplish things that will last for eternity. Will I connect daily to His power source, get into the Bible, and fellowship with Him in prayer? This passage has always had significant meaning and has truly been a pick-me-up throughout my life:

“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”  – Matthew 11:28-30
Be encouraged.
