Have you ever known a person who just exudes sweetness and love in their conversation and way of life? When you are around them, you sense their genuineness, kindness, and beautiful heart. You want to be like them.
But what’s even more inspiring is that you know the hardship they have faced in the past year. The loss of their dearest friend, the grief, the loneliness…you see the tears. And yet, through it, a sweet aroma of gentleness, love, and faith arises. You know that their hope and trust are anchored in something much deeper, much stronger, and so much bigger than the pain they walk through.
Their life is a beautiful testimony, a rare fragrance that is only appreciated by those who recognize its value.
When companies create fragrances and perfumes, they employ multiple processes to extract the most beautiful scents. Heat, pressure, time, and other elements are all used to make something of great value and high demand.
It’s a bittersweet thing. I am moved and challenged by people who choose to trust in the Lord even through the hardest of days. I am also reminded of what a beautiful testimony of love and grace can flow through a life filled with faith. Let’s ask God for faith like this and choose it.
“Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish.” 2 Corinthians 2:14-15
