4 Easy Ways to Gratefulness

by | November 28, 2022

A small chorus that was really popular when I was growing up has been stuck in my mind this week . . . “Give thanks with a grateful heart.”

I have been challenged this week to continually develop a heart of gratefulness. We were able to make the trek out to Oklahoma to visit my family and while there we heard a thought-provoking message. He challenged everyone to not say “thank you” simply out of habit, but rather develop a heart of gratefulness.

Here are a few easy ways to get you on the fast track to gratefulness:

  1. Recognize where God found you and where you are now.
  2. Begin counting the daily blessings that He pours out.
  3. Name the people in your life who have loved, cared for, and guided you, making you the person you are today.
  4. Recall the answered prayers, the protection, and the daily provisions that God has showered on us all.

These ideas may seem a little redundant after coming off of a national holiday labeled “Thanksgiving”. But in reality, I am a forgetful person. I need to remember the goodness of God everyday. I know that when I do this, my attitude changes and my heart becomes grateful!

“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” —Ephesians 5:20

Be encouraged.
