You may think this week’s devotional is coming from a biased point of view, but I have to say that I have the best friend — Erin.
I was honored to celebrate her birthday with the kids this past week. Watching the kids’ enthusiasm and appreciation unfold in ways that only a child could express was so heartwarming. I knew I was blessed beyond measure and didn’t deserve such an amazing friend. Erin knew me for who I was with all my imperfections and idiosyncrasies, and she loved me still. It’s hard not to love a person back like that.
But one thing really shines through in my mind about Erin is her character. Erin is a stunning person inside and out, but her heart of character makes her truly beautiful. As I look into her life and see the many qualities a Christian should emulate, I am inspired, challenged, and encouraged to grow as a Christian.
I share these thoughts for two reasons:
- First, to help you look at those closest to you and find the character in their lives that motivates you to be a better Christian.
- Secondly, I would challenge you to reach out and tell them how they have encouraged your life. Send a text message or give them a call, write a letter, or even send them a gift. Just tell them how they have impacted your life!
I know for many of us, it has been our mothers that have really been a guiding light in our lives. Tell them what they have done for you. I know they will be blessed — and you will be too!
