My grandfather recently passed away. As I stood at his funeral singing one of his favorite hymns, I was overwhelmed by God’s love and the legacy of a man who loved Jesus. Grandpa Paine finished well. He was a brilliant man, full of integrity. He loved people and lived his life giving to others. Even till his last day here on earth, he prayed for other people and talked about his Savior.
Enough can’t be said about my grandfather. If he were still here, he would love to tell us to love Jesus and others, stay in God’s Word, and be faithful in serving the Lord…he lived this message.
I read Philippians 1 this morning and came across these two verses: “According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” – Verses 20-21
This embodied my grandpa’s life. He magnified God with his life, and now he has gone to his eternal home, rejoicing. I desire to follow in his footsteps on earth as he followed Jesus!
