It may seem a little funny to you — but would you believe me if I told you I still use a Garmin GPS to tell me where to go when I am traversing Tennessee? Behind the times as it may seem, I have grown pretty confident in this convenience, and on occasion witnessed it out-perform a smartphone when cell signal was scarce.
However, there still comes a time when I can’t find the answer to where I am going in that GPS . . . I need more clarity. This is when I usually have to make a phone call to someone for that push in the right direction or that small detail I had overlooked.
Life is like a journey. There are times when I have found that I do not know which way to turn. I don’t know what direction to head . . . the details are not clear and I need help. It is at these crossroads in life that I find I must make a call in prayer to the One who knows all things. Sometimes I don’t even know what I need, I don’t know what to ask for. But it is when I humble myself and just go to the Lord in prayer, I find peace, I find comfort, and I find a faithful Friend Who has never failed me, Who has never changed, and Who has never let me down. I may not get instant clarity or immediate answers to my questions, but I find something much more reassuring, I find Him.
Isaiah 55:6 gives this admonition: “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” I am writing this email as a reminder to myself. Don’t panic when you don’t know where to turn when you feel lost. Choose to go to the Lord in prayer and turn your eyes on Him. It is then that you will find His presence and His sweet, reassuring peace that He has everything under control.
Be Encouraged.
