If someone were to hand me a piece of paper and ask me to write down everything I wanted God to do or every question I desired an answer for, that paper would be filled in no time, and I would most likely need another paper! These desires and petitions would be good things… problems solved, relationships strengthened, health issues resolved, salvation for others, and so much more. If all those things on that list were answered and taken care of, where would my need for the Lord be? The Lord uses these difficulties and perplexing problems to draw us closer to Himself and help us see our need for His help and guidance. This past month, I have found this to be so true. And you know what? In those moments of prayer, when I recognized my great need and believed in His divine ability to answer and provide, I found His presence and fellowship so sweet and real. My heart has been overwhelmed by God’s goodness. As I reflect on this past year as it comes to a close, I see His gentle, guiding hand at work. Knowing that He cares for and loves me like I am is overwhelming. “For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” – Psalm 100:5 So take a pen and paper and start writing a list of all God has done for you and all He is doing. Write out the blessings and challenging things that have drawn you closer to him. Write a Christmas list of PRAISE. You will find that list would far outweigh any other. He is so good. |
