Does God need us to hurry?

by | May 9, 2022

The last few weeks have been busier than usual, and I was feeling overwhelmed with the work load that was staring me in the face. Every night I just seemed to be going to bed later and later while trying to “get ahead.” In the midst of it all, a verse in Psalm 46 came to mind . . . “BE STILL and know that I am God” (emphasis added).

It was opposite of everything my “to-do list” was telling me to do. I felt like I just needed to go and do and push to get it done. But God was calling me to just “be still” and pause in the moment of my busyness.

Chip Ingram, one of my favorite Bible teachers, said: “Hearing God’s voice and hurry are incompatible.” I have to slow down and quiet my heart and let God speak to me through His Word and His Holy Spirit. When I’m in a hurry, I don’t take the time to recognize the people in my life or the little blessings God sends every day. Let’s try to eliminate hurry from our lives.

Love,

Erin
