Valentine’s Day is Friday. All the cards, flowers, and special surprises that people remember this day are just a tiny part of its deeper meaning. If you or I were to try to sum it all up in one word, LOVE would surely be at the top of the list. Over the years, this word has taken on deeper meaning as I have seen beautiful demonstrations of this quality by people I have been honored and privileged to meet. The Bible, chapter 1 Corinthians 13, verses 4-5, begins with a descriptive list of what true love is: “Charity [love] suffereth long, and is kind; charity [love] envieth not; charity [love] vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil.”Love is putting others before self. Love is always a sacrifice of something. When put this way, I can quickly evaluate my own life and ask, “What sacrifices am I making for the Lord and others?” More than not, these sacrificial actions are small and probably unnoticed by most. But the Lord doesn’t miss anything. I would love to encourage you today with this. Choose to love the Lord and people, and don’t be weary in sacrificially giving to others…God takes note.I want to go on record and say I am so grateful for a God who gave His Son in the greatest sacrificial act of all time (John 3:16) and for the Lord giving me a woman in my life who has loved beyond anything I could ever deserve. |
Be encouraged. Chad |
