Do you ever recall the line of a song that you learned years ago? This happens to me quite often, especially when the songs are timeless hymns with rich truths.
Yesterday, I was reading in 1 Corinthians 10 about God making a way of escape in temptation:
“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” Verse 13
The song, I Need Thee Every Hour, came to mind as read this promise and was overwhelmed with the thought of all the things in my life that I want to change or grow in. Whether tempted in thought, word, or deed, I need the Lord’s help.
But what does this look like when it works out in everyday life? It sounds great, but how do we get God’s help? How does a little child get help for something they need? It almost seems silly to answer that question, but why am I too proud to acknowledge my need for help by asking my Heavenly Father in prayer? I realize the older I get, the less I want to ask others for help. Let this not be true of us in our walk with Jesus. He promises to hear us when we cry out to Him!
“He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.” – Psalm 145:19
Be Encouraged,
